When a prison transport plane crashes in the remote Alaskan wilderness—freeing dozens of violent inmates—the region's lone marshal must protect the town he's vowed to keep safe.
"The Last Frontier", is, in broad terms, a contemporized Western.
There's a posse, led by a hard nosed Marshal, out to get escaped bad guys, in the unforgiving wilderness of Alaska. What makes this a little better than it might sound, on first inspection, is an espionage, conspiracy, tie in.
Yes, I know the latter trope has been done to death, with some truly awful spy based series but this time around, its a good mix. The notion of a coldly calculating female CIA operative out to catch a nefarious figure, who has gone rogue, whilst working with and against the Marshall, whose overriding desire is to protect his family and community, offers an interesting contrast.
Blended into this mix is, at times creative, polished but also over the top, fun action and more than capable performances, from the cast.
In summary, a contemporary Western espionage, action thriller done the right way. Well worth a look.
