Description

After the highs of winning the world championships, the Bellas find themselves split apart and discovering there aren't job prospects for making music with your mouth. But when they get the chance to reunite for an overseas USO tour, this group of awesome nerds will come together to make some music, and some questionable decisions, one last time.

    Almost poor, but 'Pitch Perfect 3' has just enough about it to avoid it being a chore to sit through. I didn't enjoy it, it's definitely the weakest of the series. With that said, there is somehow still narrowly enough there to stop it becoming bad - just. The shorter run time helps, while the musical numbers are a step up on 'Pitch Perfect 2' in my opinion; the Toxic end is fun. Anna Kendrick (Beca) and Rebel Wilson (Fat Amy) remain the pick of the onscreen talent. None of the other regulars stand out, nor do any of the newcomers - though it's always cool to see John Lithgow (Fergus), albeit with a dodgy accent, while 'Timeless' star Matt Lanter (Chicago) also appears. The plot is very lame, yet I honestly didn't dislike it - almost, but not quite.

    **Pitch Perfect 3 cranks up the crazy for a hilarious send-off that also knows how to appreciate its characters and what made the franchise so fun.** The Pitch Perfect movies are all over the top goofy, but that goofiness reaches new heights - and I loved it! The same outrageous zaniness of all these colorful characters continues, but this time, their circumstances are even more ridiculous than before! There are riff-offs, yes, but also action sequences, animal attacks, explosions, and more, all wrapped in a heartfelt story of friendship and a loving send-off of these lovable misfits. The Pitch Perfect movies became a fantastic way to disconnect and laugh at the nonsense for an hour and a half. I am glad that they concluded the series with a fun farewell that honored the characters and stayed true to the wacky personality of the franchise.

    After Pitch Perfect 1, it's like the creatives behind the campy classic lost themselves in the idea of grandiosity, like what would make the PP franchise better would be bigger, epic acts that nothing have to do with the true nature of what made the first one so lovable and endearing: its simplicity. Pitch Perfect started with its two feet on the ground and didn't take itself too seriously, yet had a cohesive storyline with an incredible line up of actresses that nurtured seomwhat relatable characters with plausible quirks and dynamics, and a friend group that would ultimately translate into the real world and keep steady for years to come. That was its beauty. And then, there were two... And three. It could only go down from having DJ Khaled and Ruby Rose in its cast. Worst of the trilogy. PP3 completely lost the plot—which is what happens when you try making a trilogy out of a collegiate a capella singing group no longer in college, and are very uncreative about it. Not only were they trying to feed us American army and DJ Khaled propaganda, but also somehow wanted us to believe Chloe is a heterosexual? In the words of my dear friend, now that is propaganda I'm not falling for. The Bechloe kiss remains canon in my heart. Unfunny. Caricaturesque. Propagandistic. Pathetic. Random action storyline. No honest competition; everyone pissed me off. I hate Ruby Rose face and that fuckass bob. The only character that maintained a semblance of multidimensional personality, was Beca. And it's indubitably thanks to Anna Kendrick's intervention in not forcing a romantic storyline and keeping the grumpy love for the Bellas at the forefront, unlike what they did to Chloe... And Lilly... And Emily (though she and Benji made sense). Everyone else but Fat Amy (who dare I say suffered from straight up character assassination from how ridiculous it gets) was relegated to Jessica and Ashley status (and they still had to justify Jessica and Ashley's presence by showing them at least three more times than in previous installments). At least it gave a total of one and a half performances slightly more memorable than PP2, which only had Worlds to speak for itself.
